Treat or treat?

October ends...we've had LOTS of treats and pumpkins and festivals. No tricks that I recall, but I think it's required to pretend that it's an option.
This week has been no exception. Booya came early this week and made Halloween brownies with the kids- Treat!

Tinley got some goodies from school and her babysitter- Treat!

And tonight we filled those little (big) bags with a whole bunch of treats- boy were we ready?

First an awkward family bat photo.

Guess who came with us tonight?

Here are my crazy little bats...first out on the street ready to go!

Grabbed some friends so we didn't seem like the only eager ones!

Superheros on a mission!

Conquering the scary house on the block. Parker has liked to "skip" this one since we started trick or treating. Can't blame him!

There are LOTS of houses...with LOTS of steps in our neighborhood. Glad to have some extra hands.

So blurry, but this little batgirl was trying to keep up with her friends.

I'm wondering if I will see Tinley without a lollipop for the next month. Treat, treat, treat!

Good night little costumed, sugared up friends everywhere. Hope you can make it through tomorrow!

"A friend is a hand...

that is holding yours no matter how close or far apart."

This month has definitely been a celebration of visiting with many of our friends...some close or far, some young or younger;), new friends and old friends. It's safe to say God's given us lots of hands to hold...and we love it!

Anna and Andrew came in town this weekend. Parker and Tinley were just a little excited...are they here yet? now? now? I tried to pass the time by taking pictures of them, but it was hard to stay still!

Once they got here, we wasted no time in enjoying some Halloween treats and working on our pumpkins!

We stayed up way past our bedtimes... because we just have to soak in every minute we can.

We finally did go to bed...but got up ready for a full day on Saturday. The guys (big guys) went out for a little racing. THe rest of us checked out the Amazing Maize Maze.

Where upon arrival we decided, we would wait on the 90 minute maze and stick to the mini mazes:)

A hayride...we can handle!

And with all our new pumpkin accessories, we had to get just a couple more pumpkins!

We still had more exciting times to come with a trip to see Sheryl, Andy and Lucy!

We had a great time at this fun playground. These little buddies were super cute playing together.

We had lots of great teamwork;)

And lots of smiles!

What a fun weekend!

Be Our Guest!

We've been pretty lucky to have several visitors lately. It definitely adds a little fun for us to have some extra playmates

Grandpa came to keep Tinley a few days and got to play lots of fun games while he was here.

Then this weekend the Ritters had a wedding to go to up this way so we got to see them... and me and Tinley got to hang with Savannah during the wedding. (I didn't have the good camera since Parker and Brandon were using it so lots of blurry pictures here:(

Tinley tried to take very good care of her...although in the picture below I'm not sure if Savannah liked her outfit Tinley picked for her at Discovery Place:)

Girls just want to have fun!

Savannah was such a sweet girl and we found a few things she was really excited about...like this convertible. Watch out Mom and Dad- she looked pretty comfortable behind the wheel of this car!

We went to a little petting zoo at a neighborhood Fall Festival. These girls loved getting their hands on the animals.

Savannah's favorite...the goat. Maybe she was thinking it was a ram since she is a Tarheel born and bred.

Meanwhile Brandon and Parker were on Parker's first boy scouting camping event. Here they are in their sleeping bags.

Looks like the scenery was great!

Parker won some ribbons in the events of the day. They were for frisbee throwing and a relay race. These are essential skills for survival in the wild;)

I think they had a great trip!

When we all got back together, we remembered it was time for the Statesville Balloon Festival. Despite our tired crew, we figured we could enjoy a few balloons to end out the weekend.
*one of our first "dates" back in middle school was chasing balloons at the Burlington festival with my family- Brandon got sick:( but I guess it didn't turn him off too badly.

This is the second time we decided to head that way when we knew the balloons were launching. We like to watch them and see if we can find where they land.

We found them and got to see several land in this field...and no one got sick in the process;)
