The Spirit of Christmas

There was no shortage of Christmas spirit this past weekend. It was busy and full of Christmas cheer...and some tired kids...and parents. Thankful for the "good tired" that comes from making memories!

We started off our weekend having breakfast with Santa at Tinley's preschool. Parker sang Jingle Bells to Santa and Tinley was fascinated, but kept a little distance.

I have seen Santas that look more "real" than this one...but this Santa told both the kids how special they were, to take care of one another and that Jesus loved them. Best Santa visit yet:)

Tinley's buddy:)

Painting and showing off her tattoo that she's yet to let me wipe off.

It pays to have a Dad with some artistic skills.

One of Tinley's "babies" from Ms. Joys....almost as big as she is!

My sweet boy.

After the breakfast we had to drop off Parker for his Christmas parade debut....we had lots of time to wait and entertain ourselves with various activities!

Loved these pretty horses who were at the start of the parade...aren't horses supposed to be at the end?

Finally Parker came by and because they don't stop the parade for us to get a picture, we got just a glimpse. Lots of waving and yelling for our little scout!

On Sunday,  Parker had a performance at our church where the story was about how the wrong costumes were delivered for the Christmas play. Instead of shepherds, angels, and wisemen...they told the story of Jesus with costumes for cheerleaders, football players, pirates, and cowboys. The point is...the Good News is the same no matter what!

Love learning from these sweet kids!

Parker's after performance rockstar pose!

Had to get a glimpse of the nativity up close. Half way through the performance Tinley was asking me to see the real Jesus and the real Mary. She kept asking me when the real ones were coming. Doing my best to explain this...

And finally Dr. Tinley has arrived. After attending a very exciting birthday party with a Doc McStuffins theme, she has set up clinic in our house for all the toys. Lots of surgeries and boo boos and shots.  Maybe if she's a doctor, it want make me so nervous to go.

Thankful for getting in the true spirit of Christmas!

Thanksgiving looks like...

What did your Thanksgiving week look like? Here are a few glimpses of ours...

Cooking is more fun in a tutu apparently.

Turkey Time!

Thanksgiving breakfast for my boys.

Is it done yet?

Superhero poses never grow old.

A ray of sunshine for us...

Our only family picture- shadowy but we're all there.

Cousins are fun...

 Really fun!

Sometimes they have to sleep over just to pack it all in.

Wish bone!

Wonder what he wished for...

Beards and paci mustaches.

Pretty ladies!

A thankful pumpkin

Shopping...and finding ways to amuse ourselves in line.

The kids with their new "flippies" hats.

And back home we found the last bit of fall in our neighbors yard.

Thanking God for being in all the details!

Our Little Turkey

Our little Tinley turkey has been singing her Thanksgiving songs...a lot...for a long time.  We wondered if stage fright would get her this year, but her gobble stood strong.

Mommy, Daddy, Booya, Grandaddy and Parker all came to see her!

Afterwards we went to the park for a beautiful day- at our school, we had been celebrating the Panthers.

Enjoyed lots of swinging...

Ladybug collecting...Parker says this is John the ladybug..hmmm.

Ninja moves...

And taking Uncle Matthew for a ride on the twirly seat.

Looking forward to a short school week and lots of family time ahead. Gobble Gobble:)

Seasonal Confusion?

This week we have seen some snow, a Christmas parade, played outside in the leaves and been able to wear short sleeves because the weather was so beautiful today. Wow- we are confused. We can't always predict the weather...or anything else for that matter but we will embrace it, enjoy it, and go with it!

"For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven."  Ecclesiastes 3:1

Playing outside!

We made some new friends babysitting this weekend.

Brandon and I took five kids to the mall...

And a parade... (and didn't lose anyone:)

A really really (too) early before Christmas parade...but we didn't want to miss it!

We met the Nutcracker and saw some of the ballerinas dance.

Today during church making some napkin rings to go with donated food for others. So glad our church is teaching this servanthood in a way kids can participate.

Trying to learn some new braids from people who are more hair savvy than I am (most people are!)

And finally- the outfit Tinley wanted to wear to church...we denied the tutu for church this time, but promised to let her pick out her own outfit when we got home. This was it!

Boys and girls sure are different:)

Hope your week is great no matter what "season of life" you are in!
