Red, White, and Blue and M&M's

What do these things have to do with each other?...Not much except they came in close proximity on my camera. Well there are red and blue m&ms, but not white so that connection won't work either. Anyways, Parker (and me...and the whole Kindergarten) had a red, white, and blue parade on Friday to celebrate the unit we'd been learning about our country. It is the cutest little thing and is a little 4th of July in April for us. All the kids have to wear some kind of "float" for the parade and then we march to patriotic songs all around the school.
Saturday we headed home after Parker's game to Matthew and Meagan's engagement party...with an M&M theme. Who doesn't enjoy a party where the theme is the name of a chocolate candy (and celebrating a happy time too :) Here are some of our pictures!

Parker did a little pre-parade practice the night before just to make sure he had it down pat.

Here he is with Ms. Ogden, both sporting their USA shirts.

And here he is lined up and waiting with all of his gear. I think he had to concentrate hard to keep up with the whole look!

And here are some pictures from the party. Ummm...yummm!

A little glimpse into the future!

Just a few (dozen) family members to celebrate.

I think everyone had a great time...even Mickey Mouse (I thought it was appropriate that he would attend the M&M party...hehe!)

As usual Tinley had to take a mid party bath after shoving the cake down.

And some precious cousin time...If you can't tell below, this is Indiana Jones rescuing a (very dressed up) damsel in distress.
*This was my dance recital costume a couple twenty years ago.

Here's hoping to many more magical moments for Meagan and Matthew.

Take me out to the ballgame...

Again and again.
Our weekend was filled with some ballgames, some cleaning,  and some relaxing (finally got to use my pedicure gift certificate from my birthday- yay!)  Parker had a ballgame Saturday morning and we had a Mother/ Son event from school at the Charlotte Knights on Sunday.  All these ballgame experiences reminded me of how much time I spent at some kind of ball field as a kid...or a teenager...or maybe forever. When you have lots of (talented:) brothers and a family that likes baseball, that's what you do.  Definitely have some good memories of smelling hot dogs, cheering for our team, and at some points being the kind of dirty you can only be after playing around that good ol' red baseball dirt!

Here is Parker rounding 3rd base. He was the last batter this week which in t-ball means you get to run the whole way around the bases every time....which means Parker doesn't have to remember when to run and he can just go for it!

Tinley is ready to join the team...

And can't wait to get out there and enjoy some of that great dirt!

Walking off the field with his girl...which will only be his sister for a short time...so I will capture it as long as possible.

The Mother/Son event was not looking too promising with the weather :( but we'd already paid so we took off hoping for a break in the rain. We carpooled with Parker's friend, Carter and his mom. We figured at least the boys could have a good time one way or another!

Which they were ready to do with their umbrellas. We met this peacock outside. I think he was with the tv station...not really sure but very friendly.

But our hoping was not without results...when we sat down...the rain took a break! We were thankful for this little blessing in our day.

We met "Homer" the mascot who signed our new Knights shirt.

Found some time to play (notice the dogs in the background...it was also "bark in the park" so people brought out their dogs all dressed up for the game...entertaining as well)

And finished up the game with the kids getting to run the bases. Didn't have my good camera and had a hard time capturing...but so cute!

But all good ballgames come to an end...and so do good weekends....Off to work we go!

Partying Elmo Style...

Tinley must have known it was going to be an exciting day. She was excited even when she woke up.  We went to church this morning and she was thrilled to wear one of her new birthday dresses with pockets! She walked around showing people her pockets...I agree it's a great invention to include a pocket in a dress!

When we got back she took a nap and we were busy preparing for her party. Parker was excited to help make this Elmo fruit tray!

When the princess awoke, she was ready to party!

And that was the last picture I have where she was a little bit clean!

We were happy to get all the decorations set up and though it was windy...we had all the important things!

So we played hard!!

 Pinned the nose on Elmo...

 Had cupcakes or cake..

...and some of us like Tinley had both!

All the kids tried really hard to get that candy out of the piƱata..although I think Tinley was unsure why we were hitting Elmo.

And with some help, candy at last!!

We were very blessed to have  our family and friends come celebrate with us!

With lots of fun gifts to keep Tinley styled and entertained for a long while!

And some other cuteness from old friends and really new friends!

What a great day!

Yes indeed we will sleep good tonight...while visions of a little red monster dance in our heads:)

Baby of Ours...

Is no longer a baby...Today she turns two. It seems like it's gone by so fast and then again it seems like she's been with us forever.  How could we have been complete without our girl?  She has certainly brought us a lot of joy! Here is a look back on just how fast she's grown...

Happy Birthday to Tinley! Here's to the "Tinley twos"! We know they could never be terrible with you!
